From his personal life narrative to his political outrage to his out of control romantic heart, It Ain't Truth If It Doesn't Hurt walks the line of pain and pleasure and brings to light some of the truths that slice us open, turn us inside out and sometimes sew us back together.
Each of the poems in this collection are matched with a print from artist David Berube's “Face a Day” collection. David and Brandon are former lovers, artistic collaborators, and this collection unites poetry with imagery and both tell stories that need to be heard and seen and ultimately felt.

A MUST Read for 2011

Brandon's words and David's imagery are true to life and the reader can't help but to be brought into the world that exists between the covers. Sometimes I wish I lived where they do, sometimes I'm glad I don't, and all the time I'm excited to be able to be a fly on the wall for their collaboration.
Though there may be many books of poetry and many books of art, this is the only one that combines the two in such a brilliant way that you truly feel invited into the minds of both Brandon and David.
The only downside is that the book ends and there isn't already a second one to jump right into!
